What this book will conclusively show is that the Universe is completely life-oriented, even to the extent that life governs the dynamics and stability of most aspects of the physical world. Furthermore, it complements the public's growing environmental awareness, as it uncovers the essential role of life in protecting our world and our planet. This is not in the usual environmental sense, but one more deeply rooted in the dynamics of the Earth as a planet.

We have all heard how our blind consumer-oriented ways -- now having a global impact -- are leading to an environmental disaster. Yet, there is an event(s) that will stop us before we reach that point, as has taken place a number of times in history and prehistory. Why would anyone what to know about such a "bubble bursting" perspective? Because problems don't go away by ignoring them, and there is much that can be done to prevent it. As George Santayana stated it, "Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it." In the final analysis, this book will ultimately make the world a better place, reverse the current environmental crisis and world tensions, and raise the consciousness of the Earth's inhabitants about the generally unrealized aspects of our own history, as well as, the cosmos.

Quantum mechanics and experiments performed within the past few decades have demonstrated that we are not passive spectators, but participators that shape the world around us. In Defense of Nature -- The History Nobody Told You About, as well as The Vital Vastness, has brought into view a thoroughly interdisciplinary understanding of a world in which we possess the power to shape and control what takes place. Nothing illustrates this better than our own prehistory and history.

This book explains why our world is growing in turmoil. Most people want something that illuminates the reasons behind the increasing natural disasters of greater severity and escalating world tensions. Furthermore, they want a study that addresses the remedies, not just the problems, and this book and The Vital Vastness does just that.

In Defense of Nature, The History Nobody Told You About

Tome Six: Where Have All the Civilizations Gone?

Due to the fact that we have not considered human participation in our investigation of the physical world, we have also not understood our own history. Therefore, Tome Six of the series answers the question: Where have all the civilizations gone? A combination of archeological evidence, ancient and historical writings, mythology, weather changes, natural disasters, and solar activity brings about a compelling new look at history and prehistory. The new model of the Earth has continually played a part in history, and the people of those times commented on the observed phenomena, which they often attributed to divine intervention. Many aspects of our current mind-set about archeology and history are rigidly set against being open to these possibilities which are discussed in the book -- see excerpts.

Topics range from what led to the downfall of Mesopotamia, the Indus Civilization, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient China to the ravages of the bubonic plague, the Spanish conquests of the Americas, and a myriad of other history-transforming events. In the process of examining these events, ranging from 1600 BC to AD 1600, periods of global change become obvious. This is confirmed further by plotting the radiocarbon dates of the ends of a multitude of cultures and sites on a histogram, as well as in the writings of each period.

For example, within the period of 1250 BC to 1050 BC global devastation is obvious in the archeological and geological records, and in the ancient writings and mythology of the time. Mycenaean Greece was so ravaged that an entire script was lost forever, and a multitude of sites dwindled to a hand full. Crete was destroyed by eruptions, fires and tidal waves (this was one of seven times it would be destroyed). Massive devastation all along the North Sea is obvious in the geological and archeological records. Northern Europe was previously densely populated, but not as this period unfolded. Sites dated to this time in Asia Minor, Syria, Palestine, Crete, Greece, Hungary, central Germany, Egypt, India, and the forests of Europe and Asia attest to the all-encompassing nature of a devastating fire. India was to enter into a centuries long dark age. Egypt was completely overwhelmed, as shown in the archeological record and in the Egyptians' own mythology, and their ancient writings, such as the Papyrus Ipuwer , which uncannily parallels the Bible's Exodus. The Americas, Asia and the remainder of Africa also show widespread devastation and mass migrations. To see excerpts from In Defense of Nature illustrating this cycle in history, click here.

There are a number of such periods, each spanning a 200-year period. However, the radiocarbon dates reveal peaks where most events occur within 50 years. Just as could be expected from the destabilizing of physical forces, the events reach a climax.

A brief look at more recent history discloses the fact that we are continuing to make the same mistakes our ancestors have made, and this is why global tensions and disasters are on the rise. As a case in point, consider the fact that there are about ten times as many people involved in natural disasters in recent years than in the 1970's. Moreover, populations have not grown or become concentrated anywhere enough to account for this increase.

A graph of recent natural disasters over 200 years (1790-1990) shows a steady increase towards the present. What is surprising is that the graph dips every time there is civil unrest and war, and the various natural disasters fluctuate in unison. In other words, we and Nature are so much a part of each other that we take turns destroying those human works that destroy life, and once again make them the domain of Nature.

The destabilization of the physical forces is also reflected in the recent appearance of lightning superbolts (10 to 100 times stronger than ordinary lightning), more numerous and devastating hurricanes and tornadoes, the first time the high-energy, deep-ocean Benthos Boundary currents have been observed, the first time for the El Nino to continually reappear as much as it has, with the most intense El Ninos occurring in recent years, and much more.

In addition, we are now in the greatest solar maximum ever in all of history. That peak should be reached during the early part of the twenty-first century. Moreover, the last 50 years has had solar maximums that were greater than any previous maximums (with the exception of about 12,000 years ago).

We have put ourselves under the double-edged sword of not comprehending the lessons of our past, and not wanting to face the reality of our misguided actions in the present. The lesson we have failed to understand is that civilizations have passed on continually as a consequence of the cyclical renewal of wilderness, which supports the dynamics of FEM. Through the creation of life crises by civilizations there came the destabilizing of the dynamics of FEM and its linkages, causing disaster to strike (This is also the case with major geological events, such as the Cretaceous-Tertiary Boundary, when life crises took place before the major events).

Even human conflict, partially triggered by biometeorological effects, as well as social injustices, brings about the same ends: the collapse of those things that destroy life and the renewal of wilderness. This is, in fact, why history continually shows that nomads (those closer to Nature) are favored by the events that transpire, and often help destroy great civilizations. Examples include the Vandals, Huns, Mongols, bedouins of the Arab-Islamic conquests, Aztecs, Incas, and numerous others. Furthermore, those nomads who then became "civilized" (destroyed Nature) were themselves destroyed. Life is so much a part of the cosmos that we even play a part in bringing it back by destroying civilizations that have no regard for maintaining wildlife. For an excerpt on how we are more a part of Nature in this regard click here.

As Thoreau so truthfully expressed it: "In wilderness is the preservation of the world." And we should never forget that if we do not learn from history, we are condemned to repeat it. This look at prehistory and history is startlingly unique, as it includes facts and quotes that are generally overlooked by most historians and archeologists, yielding a world history that is more dramatic and unlike anything ever written. The main lesson to be learned is that we must work with Nature, or we are working against ourselves, for we are not separate from Nature.

Tome Seven: Cosmic Connections

Tome Seven reveals that the Earth is not so isolated from the rest of the Universe. Archeological evidence, ancient and historical writings, and mythology reveal the field systems at work during the periods of global change discussed in Tome Six. Due to the ignorance of ancient people, these forces were disguised in the veil of gods and serpents. Solar activity, climate shifts, changes in the length of day, calendric alterations, comet sightings, and various other phenomena disclose the workings of the field-systems linkages.

For example, consider some of the mythology and other writings of the 1250-1050 BC period. In Egypt, there was the tale of Osiris, Isis, Horus and Set (or Seth); a story that would be repeated, not only in Egypt, but throughout history in those cultures in the circum-Mediterranean region. In that story, Set is the personification of evil, responsible for darkness, drought, storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, and everything evil. Set kills Osiris, the personification of life on Earth. Isis, the Great Mother (of life and the Earth), revives Osiris with the help of Horus, a representative of the Sun and Moon. A close examination of this story communicates the understanding that the Earth was overwhelmed by disaster with the subsequent renewal of life.

Additional writings during this period also indicate the same thing. Other deities such as Anat, the goddess of war, and Reshep, the god of thunderbolts and lightning, among others, surface during this period. Also, revived from the previous cycle (1600-1400 BC) was the Egyptian writing "Destruction of Men by the Gods."

Other writings include the Harris Magic Papyrus, Papyrus Hermitage, Papyrus Ipuwer, and Medinet Habu Tablets, all of which describe the devastation of the time. Other works that parallel these Egyptian writings are the Bible, Midrash Rabba, Midrashim, the Legends of the Hebrews , and the Babylonian, Talmud. Homer later writes, in the Lliad and the Odyssey, about an overwhelming catastrophe on Earth that took place at this time. According to Homer, and established by archeological investigation, this included the destruction of Troy (one of nine times that Troy would be destroyed). These and other works all describe a time of widespread and overwhelming disaster with the subsequent renewal of wilderness.

Solar activity and climate further confirm the field linkages and the role of FEM. Climate change was so widespread that climatologists named this time the Neoglacial Period. Solar activity was at a minimum prior to this period, but then a series of maximums occurred during this cycle. There is even evidence that calendars were changed throughout, at least, Eurasia.

Other cycles, along with unexplained archeological and historical evidence, become comprehensible in the process of understanding FEM and the field-systems linkages. Further support for these interpretations is found in astronomical manuscripts and calendars, as well as astronomically aligned structures, uncovered by the disciple of archeoastronomy. These structures, artifacts, and writings were their attempts at understanding why and when the destructive forces would strike. The celestial objects found in these studies, and the entire array of other evidence lends unshakable sustenance to the field-systems linkages of a new cosmology.
