• Climate Change is Expected to Cause a Million Deaths by 2030. It will also cost more than 157 billion in economic losses. See the Physorg.com article.

• A New U.N. Environmental Program (UNEP)Publication titled "Environmental Consequences of Ocean Acidification," warns that the Oceans are Becoming so Acid that Coral, Shellfish and Even Entire Ecocsystems are Threatened. This can have consequences that some ecosystems will affect billions of people who depend on these for food, threatening global food security. See the CNN.com article. In fact, the oceans have become acidic more rapidly than since the time of the mass extinction that did in the dinosaurs.

• Cruder Petroleum, such as Tar Sands, Requires More Energy to Refine will Emit More Greenhouse Gases than other Crudes. Moreover, there is a steady increase in sulfur in crude oils that will also contribute to acid precipitation further acidifying the oceans and causing more erosion. See the ScienceNews.org article.

• Volcanic Hot Spots are Intimately a Part of Global Tectonics, and New Research Shows that They Fluctuate Together. This can be expected of FEM with its global system of Fields controlling plate tectonics, but not current models of the Earth. Hot spots also shift with the wandering of the Earth's magnetic field. • Once Again it is Shown that Polar Reversals Occur too Quickly to be Understood in Terms of Present Models of the Earth. See the Physorg.com article.

• Upward Flowing Lightning-Like Discharges, Known as Sprites and Elves, are Being Seen More Often. They occur more often in winter and form a column, just as could be predicted of partilce flow accelerated by the Fields of the Field-dynamical Earth Model, which is more active in winter. Similarly, huge jets have been seen flowing upward above huge storms into the ionosphere, and as could be expected, are called a "giant natural particle accelerator" above thunderstorms. They have also been seen by scientists on the International Space Station. In addition, a huge, upward-flowing lightningbolt was seen near the Kennedy Space Center, which is near the 30-degree latitude, the latitude of the North Atlantic Field. They can also be seen in a video in this Physorg.com article. The Tropical Storm Cristobal was accompanied by lightning that reached more than 60 kilometers (40 miles) up. The storm suddenly strengthened on 19-20 July 2008, the first Full Moon following the June Soltice, while in the region of the North Atlantic Field. See the BBC news article. • Notilucent Clouds -- Night-Shining Clouds -- are also a Phenomenon that is Being seen More Often. They were first noted in the late 19th Century, and ever summer since then, and no one has provided an explanation of what they are or how they form. An understanding of FEM brings about the answer; the Polar Fields are more involved in accelerating particles away from the Earth during the summer. The phenomenon began in the late 19th Century when the Industrial Revolution began to make sweeping changes to the biosphere, and in turn, the electrical contributions of life to the system were less consistent and strong. Likewise, they are more frequent now then previously, and they are correlated with the solar cycle. What particularly implicates FEM is that the phenomenon occurs around the poles (the North Polar Field and the South Polar Field), there is a corresponding change in the opposite hemeisphere as they occur, and they are seasonal. • Earth's Auroras Flicker On and Off Like a Light Switch. This is to be expected of FEM whose Fields are time-varying particle accelerators (i.e., they turn on and off). See the Physorg.com article.

• Scientists are now Looking into the Possibility that the Magnetic Compass in Animals may be due to Quantum Entanglement. It is still unknown what some animals use to migrate along the magnetic contours of the Earth. See the Physorg.com article. Another article suggests that it is due to a protein, cryptochrome, found in the the retina.

• The Magnetic Compass of some Birds appears to be due to Short Nerve Branches Attached to Iron in their Beaks. See the Sciencedaily.com article.

• A Study of where Lightning Strikes the Most Clearly Reveals the Effects of the North Atlantic Field on North America. As discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume One, the North Atlantic Field's release of radiation ionizes the atmosphere, producing lightning, which affects the Southeast the most. As can be seen in this article, a map of lightning strike deaths displays this phenomena. Florida gets hit the most and the North Atlantic Field is to the east of Florida. • The World's Deepest Undersea Vents are Found in the Region of the North Atlantic Field of FEM. See the BBC.co.uk article.

• Rainfall Changes are Associated with the Mediterranean Field that Occur Around the March Equinox, the June Solistice and Shortly Following the September Equinox in October. This effect was noted on the southern portion of the Iberian Peninsula, just north of the Mediterranean Field, and in other areas of Europe close to this Field. See the Physorg.com news release.

• The Biosphere gets Much, Much Larger -- A Mass Equal to All of the Living Organisms on the Earth's Surface Lies Hundreds and Thousands of Meters Below the Surface, called the Subsurface Biosphere. The bacteria have a wide range of abilities, including "eating" hydrocarbons and natural gas, as well as storing carbon. See the Physorg.com news release. • A "Strange" Spiral Lights have been seen Near Northern Norway. Could it be a phenomenon created by the North Polar Field of FEM? After all, the Field is a giant particle accelerator that is in the form of a helical structure with the particle flow lighting up into the sky and the accelerator producing the spiral. • The Earth's Mantle is for the First Time Mapped in 3D, and Suggests that the Core-Mantle transition is Composed of Water. • Fossil Fuels are Not Always associated with the Organic Matter of Fossils. This was discussed in the The Vital Vastness -- Volume One showing hydrocarbons can be produced by ionizing radiation in the atmosphere and appear at time of mass extinctions. See the Physorg.com article.

• Bacteria Act Like Electronic Gadgets, Producing Electric Currents. As discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume One life, including the entire biosphere and sub-biosphere produce and channel electrical energy. This, however, is not considered by those studying the Earth's electrical environment. Meanwhile, these electric contributions of life are very important to maintaining the geomagnetic field. • Scientists Observe Energy Transfer Between the Earth and Sun, but are Surprised at the How Strong it is. They Observed FEM, but do not know the model and are therefore surprised. See the Sciencedaily.com article.

• A New Study Shows that More Species Become Extinct and More Originate in the Mid-Latitudes. This Latitude Diversity Gradient, as it is called, shows a decrease of diversity from the equator and mid-latitudes to the poles. • Extinction Rates are Lower in Open-Ocean Areas than in Shallow Continental Seas. This was discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume One, Tome Three, and again conforms with FEM's release of ionizing radiation. Those creatures most protected by deep water will receive less of the effects of the radiation, as deep water, especially salty water is a buffer against radition. See the Sciencedaily.com article. • Godwana, the Supercontient, Underwent a Major Shift at the Time of the Cambrian Explosion. That is a major explosion of new species coinsided with either a huge shift in plate tectonics or polar wander. • Giant Gastropods have been Discovered Just a Short Time Following the Permian-Triassic Mass Extinction, the Most Devastating Mass Extinction in Earth History. This discovery was unexpected, as they usually are smaller after mass extinctions. As discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume One, Tome Three, ionizing radiation can restructure chromosomes preducing larger or smaller organisms following mass extinctions.   Genome Duplication is Found to be more Common in Plant Evolution than Previously Thought. The term used to describe this duplication is polyploidy, and experiment and field observations show that it is readily created as the result of ionizing radiation, as discussed The Vital Vastness -- Volume One, Tome Three. • A New Study Confirms that Evolution is Less a Function of What a Physical Trait is and More a Result of Where the Genes that Affect that Trait Resides in the Chromosome (Genome). This was discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume One, Tome Three, and that ionizing radiation and other factors (geomagnetic fluctuations, changes in atmospheric pressure, etc.) break the chromosome, and reorder the genetic material, creating a new creature. • Once again Scientists Find Organic Biomaterials in Dinosaur Remains. Molecular preservation in Cretaceous dinosaurs is no longer considered a unique event, as many samples have been found. This time protein was found preserved in bone fragments and soft tissues of a Hadrosaur. • Another Similarity Exists Between Venus and Earth, Their Lightning Phenomena Reveal the Same Mechanism. This is to be expected of the Field-dynamic Model being in Operation on Both Planets. Otherwise, one would tend to believe that their lightning would be very different, as different as their atmospheric composition. See the Sciencedaily.com article.

• Observations Link Saturn's Radio Emissions and Aurora -- Part of the Evidence for a Solar Linkage and a Field-dynamical Model. See the Physorg.com article.

• Venus has a Polar Vortex and the Atmosphere in the Polar Region is 60% Less than was Hypothesized. Both the polar vortex and the less dense atmosphere can easily be explained by particle flow accelerated in a vortex motion -- the Field of the Field-dynamical Model atthe poles. • Saturn's Red Spot has been Seen Glowing. This was discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume Two as the result of particle flow in the region of the Red Spot and a Field-dynamical Model of Saturn. • A Bright Spot Appeared on Jupiter that has Been Assumed to be an Impact -- But is it? The mystery is that there is no debris that an impact would leave behind. So NASA asks "was it something else?" When looking at the image it is clear that this phenomenon took place in the southern mid-latitude where fields that release ionizing radiation would produce the same phenomenon -- lights, but not debris. This is something that could be predicted of a Field-dynamical model of Jupiter as was discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume Two. See the NASA news release.

• A New Discovery -- Hydrogen at High Pressure Becomes Superconducting and Metallic. This fits well with the Field-dynamical Model where the core is hydrogen under high pressure and confinement (superconducting layer) producing hydrogen fusion. Scientists normally consider that the interior of a planet, say Earth, is metallic, but few, if any, consider that it might be hydrogen under high pressure. See the Physorg.com news release.

• A "Mysterious Spot" was Observed on Venus. The spot appeared along the 45^o latitude, which can be expected of particle flow from mid-latitude fields of the Field-dynamical Venus Model, which would also create atmospheric turbulence. The scientists examining the phenomenon suggest solar particles and atmospheric turbulence as a possiblity, but they do not know for sure. See the New Scientist article and the Physorg.com article.

• Saturn has a Colassal Ring Larger than Anything in Our Solar System and Few Other Unexpected Charateristics. The moon, Phoebe, is associated with a ring that rotates backwards and is tilted by 27^o to the equator of Saturn -- it is the mid-latitude Fields that seem to control this. [sources: Tiscareno, M.S., Hedman, M.M., Saturn's Colassal Ring. Nature 461:1064-5 (2009) and Verbiscer, A.J., et al. Saturn's Largest Ring. Nature 461:1098-1100 (2009)]. Moreover, many of the Saturn's ring features cannot be reconciled with gravitational theories.

• Saturn's Lightning Breaks a Solar System Record by Lasting Longer than on any Other Planet. As could be expected of the Field-dynamical model the lightning continously appears at the 35^o South Latitude (i.e., a mid-latitude Field). See the Nationalgeographic.com article.

• Space Physicists indicate that Saturn's Rings are Still a Mystery. The problem is that scientists are trying to explain the features as the result of gravitational forces, but they are instead electromagnetically controlled by a Field-dynamical Model of Saturn. This is especially apparent in the unusual features, such as gaps, braids, spokes, old and new material, and so forth. See the MSNBC.com article.

• Another Suprise at Saturn -- It's Winds Move Both East and West. This results from jets in the atmosphere that alternate eastward and westward, but scientists don't know why. • Finally the Question is Being Asked Whether Fluid Motions (Dynamics) can Explain Quantum Mechanics and Describe Unification. One of the biggest barriers in science is typically not giving the mechanical forces and/or intergalactic fields a role in in astrophysics and unification, but this research is contemplating their role. • Quasars Give Birth to Stars. This seems contrary to the prevailing theory that they are supermassive black holes, swallowing up matter. See the Physicsworld.com article.

• Two Different Studies Reveal what is Really Going on in Black Holes. As discussed in black holes are the result of electromagnetic forces and plasma, and have strong collimated ionized jets that also eject X-rays. Both of which do not require supermassive black holes, but electromagnetic wormholes.

• Comets in the Oort Cloud Seem to be From Other Solar Systems, as well. Both these and Sungrazers (comets that crash into the Sun) bring back some of the lost energy and mass due to solar activity. • Borneo's Recent Devastating Floods were the Result of Illegal Logging. With the forests gone there was no way to stop the floodwaters and they hit heavily populated towns and cities plunging them into deep water and making them uninhabitable. • Another City has Been Discovered Submerged in the Mediteranean Sea. The ancient city, known either as Leukaspis or Antiphrae, was hidden for about sixteen centuries after it was nearly wiped out by a fourth century tsunami that demolished the area. • A Great and Advanced Civlization Once Existed in the Amazon -- A Place Where Many Archaeologists Thought that None Existed. • Newly Discovered Mayan Pyramid may be the World's Largest Man-Made Structure, Even Larger than the Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. • Beware! The History of Downfall of the Athenians Sounds Much Like Today's World. The end of the Athenians, in the 4th Century BC, has a very simliar ring to it -- it occurred during a crippling economic downturn, while politicians committed financial crimes, sent its armies to fight unpopular foreign wars and struggled to cope with a surge in immigration. As with so many facets of history this lesson has been ignored. • Many Random or Chaotic Human Activities have been Found to "Exhibit Universal Statistical Patterns." "Among these is human conflict: the size distribution of casualties aggregated over entire wars follows an approximate power-law distribution." However, do events of individual wars share any common patterns? The researchers show that they do. Using detailed data sets from a wide range of conflicts, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Colombia, it was shown that wars share common patterns with each other, and also with terrorism on a global scale. The size and timing of violent events can be understood in terms of ecological interactions between human groups. • Different Characteristics of Civilization Attrack Storms. Urbanization increases the Monsoon, large dams alter extreme weather, and deserts are spreading, all of which are typical of past civilizations that collapsed.

• Highly Advanced Societies Existed in the Amazon until the Spaniards Came. • UN Study Shows that Dirty Water Kills More People than All Forms of Violence. See the Christian Science Monitor article.

• We are Now Experiencing the Sixth Mass Extinction in the Last Half Billion Years. We humans are the ones to blame, as we destroy habitats, strip the Earth of it natural resources, create pollution, spread invasive species, and raise the temperature of the atmosphere. • We are Not Only Trashing the Planet, but are also Destroying the Life on it. • NASA provides an overview of the human impact on our planet. See the NASA feature article.

  
  

• A Bright Spot Appeared on Jupiter that has Been Assumed to be an Impact -- But is it? The mystery is that there is no debris that an impact would leave behind. So NASA asks "was it something else?" When looking at the image it is clear that this phenomenon took place in the southern mid-latitude where fields that release ionizing radiation would produce the same phenomenon -- lights, but not debris. This is something that could be predicted of a Field-dynamical model of Jupiter as was discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume Two. See the NASA news release.

  
  

• Solar Storms can Suddenly Change Direction from Away from the Planets to Towards the Planets. As discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume Two there are solar-planet linkages that are evident in planetary periods in solar activity. This research supports that interpretation, as coronal mass ejections and flares seek the planets. See the NASA news release.

  
  

• A New Phenomena has been Observed Called "Spacequakes." They are a form of spaceweather -- solar eruption with great force -- that shake the Earth's magnetic field all the way to ground level and have the effect of a 5 or 6 magnitude earthquake. This is easily understood as the Field system of FEM and its solar linkage. See the NASA news release.

  
  

• The Earth's Upper Atmosphere Closest to Space -- the Thermosphere -- "Mysteriously" and Suddenly Collapsed. It is events like this that indicate a major event is about to take place on Earth (i.e., FEM). The atmosphere is the first place that shows the destablization FEM and all major geologic events (such as, mass extinctions, the ends of major geologic epochs, etc.) leave a record that shows great changes in climate. • NASA sees Earthquakes Triggered by the Sun and Moon, and Swarms of Quakes from One Side of the Earth to Another at the Same Time. A could be expected of an understanding of FEM, and shown in other studies, quakes are coupled on a global scale. In this article, however, they suggest that it is water under high pressure that is the trigger, when it is really an electrostatic trigger. See the NASA news release. See the next entry.

• The Maya Collapse was due to their Own Poor Ecological Practices. There is a message for today's world in this finding, but will we take heed before its too late? See the NASA news release.

• NASA Identifies the Most Severe Storms of the Decade. One should take note that these storms are all near a solstice and occur during a lunar phase or mid-phase, demonstrating the solar-lunar-Earth linkage. They are as follows: 5/9/00 quarter phase prior to June solstice; 12/22/01 quarter phase at the solstice; 12/28/02 quarter phase following the soltice; 9/10/03 Full Moon prior to equinox; 8/23/04 quarter phase proir to solstice; 10/18/05 Full Moon following the solstice; 4/24/06 mid-phase following equinox; 8/18/07 mid-phase prior to solstice; 9/27/08 mid-phase following the equinox; and 3/8/09 mid-phase prior to the equinox. • A Coronal Mass Ejection Emerges as a Cartwheel. This is the type of observation that one would expect from a a solar-planet linkage in solar activity. It is likely a Sunr-Earth (IMF-FEM ) linkage that caused the ejection, as this was the first mid-phase of the Moon, following New Moon, after the March (vernal) Equinox. A vortex Field could easily create the cartwheel shape as it breaks the Sun's surface magnetic field. See the NASA news release.

• Dark Halos are in Association with Some of Mercury's Craters. Their formation is said to be a "mystery." Meanwhile, they show the central peak that is to be expected from ejection, as discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume Two and on the webpage Planetary Ejections and Cratering. • Historic Tropical Cyclone Tracks Show the Effects of the Fields of Field-dynamical Earth Model (FEM). A NASA map shows the effects of the North Atlantic Field (Caribbean), the Japanese Field (Phillipines), the East and West Australian Fields, and modestly, the Brazilian Field. The effects of the Fields on cyclones was discussed in The Vital Vastness, and are the result of the Fields release of ionized partiles that churn the atmosphere producing cyclones and other weather phenomena. • Once Again a Solar-Climate Record is Uncovered. This time it is NASA who studied Nile records. See the NASA article.

• A New Space Solar Observatory Captures Images of a Solar Flare in an Unexpected Place --in the Sun's Chromosphere. This is the outer "atmosphere" of the Sun, where solar flares are not expected, as solar flares and sunspots are thought to arise from magnetic flux tubes deeper in the Sun. However, this is to be expected if the source for the flare is a remote field, the of the planets (especially the Earth), as described in The Vital Vastness -- Volume Two. See the NASA news release.

• The Sun's South Pole is Cooler than its North Pole, and Other Mysteries Observed with the Spacecraft Ulysses. Though near the lowest point during solar minimum the Sun sent out huge bursts of solar wind particles and they came from near the equator, but spewed out from the poles. The wind has to follow magnetic field lines, but present theory doesn't account for this. Meanwhile, an understanding of the Field-dynamical Model of the Sun, discussed in The Vital Vastness -- Volume Two would allow for the prediction of these observations. • NASA Observes that the Entire Solar System is Surrounded by a Gigantic Bubble. The observation comes from the spacecraft Voyager 1. See the NASA article.

• A Survey of Wetlands Shows a Drastic Decline. Wetlands are some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth, filter water, and protect inland ecosystems (and cities) from storm surges. This means that as hurricanes and tropical depressions become more numerous and strong, they will devastate cities and towns -- those places that created the problem. As could be expected, the loss of wetlands is due to human activites, especially the damming of rivers, using rivers for chemical agriculture and so forth. Typical of history the very people who caused the problem in Nature will be the ones that are devastated. See the NASA news release. See also the next entry.

• More Maya Ruins Have Been Discovered, using Satellite Imaging of Hidden Ruins Covered by Soil and Dense Forest Growth. Aerial photographing has been a majore contributor to discovering ruins buried by time and Nature. See the NASA news release. [Note: the article is incorrect in stating that the Maya culture was destroyed in the mid-ninth century. The last of what remained of the Maya culture did fizzle out then, but it was the mid-eight century that shows the height of the collapse. And this is evident in their own monuments and writings.]. • NASA Satellites are Trained on Central America Hoping to Prevent the Same Mistakes than Collapsed the Mayan Civilization. Their biggest overall mistake was the destruction of Nature. See the NASA story. (note: The article says that the Maya collapsed a 1,000 years ago, but the majority of the Maya collapsed in the mid-8th century. See the 550-750 AD historical-renewal cycle.). • A Crater has been Discovered in Egypt's Western Desert and Dates to 100 Million Years Ago -- A Time When there were No Mass Extinctions. With all the focus on meteor impacts as causes of mass extinctions it would seem that this crater -- Kebira Crater -- would coinside with a one of the greatest mass extinction, but it is not associated with any extinctions. • The Earth's Radiation Belt Fluctuates with Solar Activity. This is to be expected from the Field-dynamical Earth Model (FEM), as discussed in The Vital Vastness. See the NASA news release.
